Welcome to the Southport Bijou Cinema, winner of the Liverpool City Region’s “Best Hidden Gem” category in The Guide Liverpool’s 2022 Tourism Awards!
We love all things film at the Bijou, and are here to bring cinema to you: the community. Screenings in our comfortable, 75-seat, ground floor auditorium include classics old and new, independent films and dynamic world cinema. The Auditorium is raked for the best viewing experience possible, and houses both an Optoma 8000-lumens projector and immersive 5.1 Surround Sound. While there is no allotted wheelchair spaces on our ticketing site, wheelchair users are very welcome, and are recommended to book either end of the front row for the most comfortable viewing experience..
Also on the accessible ground floor is our friendly Bar and Box Office, selling a range of bottled lagers, ales, wines and assorted soft drinks, as well hot drinks from our chic-style Fracino Coffee Machine, all of which you can purchase before (or during) the screening, and take into the auditorium with you!
We also welcome well-behaved dogs in our Bar, too! Accessible unisex toilets are open on the ground level for Bijou customers. For accessible assistance into the building itself, please press the front door bell and the staff will provide the ramp.
Upstairs, on the first floor, is The Bijou Lounge, a spacious room with seating available for events/parties. More info on this room, and hiring both it and the Auditorium can be found on our HIRE page, so feel free to have a look! All upstairs areas, including The Lounge and Male and Female toilets for Bijou customers are accessible by lift on the ground floor.

The Bijou is situated at 8 Post Office Avenue, PR9 0US; a side street off the main Lord Street, and a short 4 minute walk from the local Southport Train Station. If you’re cycling, you can leave your bike inside the building. If you’re driving, you can drop off friends outside the Bijou (turn left from Lord Street to St. George’s Place – go past Sainsbury’s then take the first left again). Parking isn’t available on site, but after 6PM, all local street parking is free.
