Screen Club is the Bijou Cinema’s unique weekly community film school and film fan forum, for regular customers and beyond. Screen Club’s aim is to entertain, educate and connect people through the study, discussion and enjoyment of the Best of Film and TV’s international history, to help pioneer a new and growing optimistic film community in Southport, whilst discovering new ways to appreciate and enjoy great Cinema, Classic TV, Music, Literature, Art, Design and Performance.

Screen Club includes an amusing and informative FILM TALK with interactive BIG SCREEN film clips, documentaries, reviews, great music and comedy, where we discuss, examine and celebrate some of the best films ever made, and the people who made them – including live previews of many of the great films to be shown at the Bijou – all whilst learning about the principles of audio visual language, professional filmmaking techniques, the creative process and team working.

Hosted by an accomplished Film and Communications Tutor and Entertainer, Derek McLean, who uses his original dynamic and engaging teaching style inspired by Japanese Benshi film narrators and stand-up comedy to amaze, captivate and delight audiences.

Do you hunger for something new, bold and exciting to do?  Do you want to learn more about how films are made, studied and appreciated ?  Or do you wish to improve on your own presentational and communications skills? Just turn up with an open mind and take part, you won’t be disappointed.

Please support and take advantage of this exclusive ground breaking community project. A completely new Southport Town Centre leisure and learning experience. As far as we know, the Bijou is the only cinema in the UK with its own Film School available to anyone curious to learn more.

Admission for each event is £3. May include mature content.
